Reactive Dog Class

$500.00

This class is reserved for dogs that may be experiencing reactivity. Through an onsite assessment and history, we will determine if your K9 is experiencing leash reactivity, dog, person, or a fear-based reactivity. Once we have determined your dog’s special needs, we will write a specialized lesson plan tailored to your dogs need.

Reinforcement of all basic skills will be the foundation that we will build on. We will break away from just distracting your dog but giving you the tools to deal with your dog’s situation. These tools will be the basis of reconditioning your dog to adequately deal with its triggers. We will discuss all of the training tools and approaches that may best suit your dog.

Owners will be training with their dog side by side. This is an 8-week class, that is designed to introduce you to the methods that will become your dog’s new routine and language. During the first 5 weeks, the basic commands will be utilized regardless of the dogs prior training. These commands will be the foundation that the new coping tools will be paired with. The next 3 classes will be practical classes used to reinforce distance, duration, and distraction. Proper recognition of your dog’s physical reactions to triggers, will be engaged during this time. These practical classes will either be on campus, or at a designated location. The first 5 classes will establish a routine for you and your dog. This means, you will have the same lesson time and place. The last 3 classes will be at different times to help your dog adjust to a changing environment.
